This avocado ranch dressing is creamy, tangy, and ready in 5 minutes. It's especially handy when you have a ripe avocado that needs to be used asap (or even just half of one)! It's made without oil or dairy and is perfect for salads, bowls, dipping, and dolloping on tacos.

I have a favorite vegan ranch dressing for those times when I want classic ranch flavor. I also enjoy this super fresh, herb-forward avocado green goddess dressing when I have fresh herbs to use up. But that's not always the case!
This avocado ranch is sort of a simplified hybrid of those two. It's the one to make when you have ripe avocado on hand and need a creamy, healthy dressing in a flash.
You don't need any fresh herbs for this recipe like you do for that goddess dressing. And blending avocado is easier than blending whole nuts or seeds used in homemade vegan ranch.
Ways to Serve It
Drizzle it over salads, grain and taco bowls, or baked potatoes. Toss it with cold pasta and chopped veggies for a creamy pasta salad. Or serve it as a dip for raw veggies, vegan taquitos, potato wedges, and fries.

It's also a tasty spread for sandwiches and wraps. Try it with Tex-Mex flavors like these smoky chickpea burgers or jackfruit burgers.

Recipe Tips
- Use a soft, ripe avocado. This is an easy way to use one that's getting a little too soft for slicing but still tastes good.
- Choose a plain, unsweetened yogurt. Store-bought works, or use homemade cashew yogurt, almond milk yogurt, or cultured tofu yogurt. Adjust the water as needed depending on how thick your yogurt is.
- Adjust the thickness. Avocados vary in size, so check the consistency after blending. Keep it thicker for dipping, or thin it slightly for drizzling.
- Stir in the herbs after blending. This keeps the little flecks intact and gives the dressing that familiar ranch look (but green instead of white).
- Let it chill. You can serve it right away, but a short rest in the fridge gives the dried herbs time to soften and for the flavors to come together.
- Make just what you need. Only have half an avocado? Halve all of the ingredient amounts and use a small blender cup. I love doing this as a way to make that sliced avocado last longer than it would have!
FAQs
Store it in a tightly covered jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving.
Yes! If you have half an avocado to use, simply halve all of the amounts. A small personal blender works well for a batch this size.
Absolutely. Start with 2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives, 1 ½ teaspoons fresh parsley, and about ¾ teaspoon fresh dill. Stir them in after blending, and adjust to taste. For a different vibe, skip the dill and parsley and add a tablespoon or so of cilantro to the blender, then pulse to incorporate.
